*Calendar Revision: Due to the high number of calamity days this school year, the Galion City School District is revising its 2013-2014 School Calendar. The Galion City School District is changing February 17th (Presidents' Day) and April 21st from holidays to school days. The goal of this change is to provide more school days during typical school months and minimize the number of make-up days at the end of the school year.
*Blizzard Bags: This week, the Galion City School District received approval from the Ohio Department of Education to utilize Blizzard Bags - primarily online activities - to address some of the educational needs created by the high number of calamity days this school year. The Galion City School District will be posting links to activities and assignments from each class in the school district on our website. There is a Blizzard Bag tab on the left side of the main webpage. By using that tab, you will find activities and assignments from your child's teacher(s). When your child completes these assignments, he or she will receive credit for attendance for the next three(3) calamity days, starting with the February 5th calamity day. The Galion City School District and the Ohio Department of Education realize that your child will have assignments/homework from upcoming regular school days as well, so there is a two week timeline to complete Blizzard Bag activities. With the same goal in mind as that of the Calendar Revision, the Galion City School District is attempting to involve our students in educational activities during the typical school months, rather than relying on make-up days at the end of the school year.
